Polish analyst adds fuel to rumors that The Witcher 3 will get new DLC in 2026 to set up The Witcher 4

It’s been a full decade since The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt first launched, and nine years since its final expansion, Blood and Wine. While CD Projekt Red is now firmly focused on developing The Witcher 4, fresh rumours suggest the studio may not be done with Geralt’s most famous adventure just yet.

Speculation picked up after a report from Strefa Inwestorów quoted Noble Securities analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski, who predicted that a brand-new paid expansion for The Witcher 3 could arrive as soon as May 2026.

According to Chrzanowski, the DLC could sell around 11 million copies at a price point of $30, backed by a reported production budget of roughly $14.5 million. He also suggested that releasing new content for The Witcher 3 would help kick-start the marketing push for The Witcher 4, which he expects to launch in the final quarter of 2027.

While the information is far from concrete, the idea isn’t hard to believe. CD Projekt Red has already stated that The Witcher 4 won’t arrive before 2027, leaving a sizeable gap in the release calendar. A surprise expansion for The Witcher 3 would neatly fill that space while reigniting interest in the franchise.

Financially, the move would almost certainly pay off. The Witcher 3 has surpassed 60 million copies sold, and even a modest attachment rate for a new DLC could translate into hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. Even conservative estimates still point toward a massive return.

Beyond the money, a new expansion would also be a savvy public relations play. Reviving one of the most beloved RPGs of the last decade would put the series back in the spotlight and build momentum ahead of the next mainline entry.

What makes the rumour more intriguing is that it isn’t entirely new. Earlier reports from leakers have claimed that a Witcher 3 DLC is in development at Fool’s Theory, a studio currently working on a remake of the original Witcher and led by a former quest designer from The Witcher 2 and 3.

Adding fuel to the fire, CD Projekt Red has also confirmed that one final patch for The Witcher 3 is planned for release in 2026. While that could simply be a routine update, some fans believe it may be tied to something larger.

For now, nothing has been officially confirmed. Still, between analyst predictions, persistent leaks, and the game’s enduring popularity on Steam, it’s hard to shake the feeling that something is quietly brewing. If there really is new Witcher 3 content on the way, 2026 could be shaping up to be a very interesting year for fans—just don’t get your hopes too high until CD Projekt Red says the word.
