The First PS5 Pro Deal in Six Months Is Available for a Limited Time

Sony’s most powerful console to date is finally seeing a meaningful price cut. The PS5 Pro, which normally retails for $750, is now available for $649 as part of PlayStation’s ongoing Black Friday promotions. This marks the best official price the console has received since launch.

The PS5 Pro is a digital-only system out of the box, meaning players who prefer physical discs will need to purchase the official detachable disc drive separately. Alongside the price drop, Sony has positioned the Pro as a premium upgrade thanks to its significantly enhanced hardware.

At the core of the PS5 Pro is a larger GPU that delivers roughly 45% faster rendering performance compared to the standard PS5. This enables improved ray tracing, more stable frame rates, and AI-assisted upscaling for sharper visuals. Storage has also been doubled to a spacious 2TB SSD, addressing one of the most common complaints about the base console.

For players who rely on physical PS5 or PS4 games, the optional disc drive remains a separate purchase and is not discounted at the moment. While this does add to the total cost, the modular approach allows buyers to decide whether they want an all-digital setup or traditional media support.

Just like other PS5 models, the PS5 Pro supports Performance and Quality modes in supported games. Quality mode targets true 4K resolution with enhanced lighting and ray tracing, while Performance mode prioritizes smoother frame rates with minimal visual compromise. Several high-profile titles already offer dedicated PS5 Pro enhancements, making the upgrade more noticeable in demanding games.

PSVR 2 Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle

The Black Friday promotion extends beyond consoles. Sony has also reduced the price of its PSVR 2 Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle, making it one of the most affordable entry points yet for PlayStation’s virtual reality ecosystem. Combined with the PS5 Pro’s performance upgrades, VR titles benefit from improved clarity and smoother gameplay.

Controller deals are also part of the seasonal discounts. Multiple DualSense colorways and limited-edition designs are seeing price reductions, making it a good time for multiplayer households to pick up extra controllers or collectors to grab themed designs.

In addition to the PS5 Pro, Sony has discounted several PS5 Slim bundles, including editions themed around major first-party titles. These bundles provide a more affordable alternative for players who don’t need the Pro’s enhanced hardware but still want a current-generation console for the holidays.

Overall, this Black Friday sale represents one of the strongest buying windows yet for PlayStation hardware. Whether you’re looking to upgrade to the PS5 Pro, step into VR, or simply expand your accessory collection, the current discounts make Sony’s ecosystem more accessible heading into the end of the year.
