Wizards of the Coast has announced its next big crossover, teaming Magic: The Gathering with Capcom’s Monster Hunter series for a new Secret Lair release.

The collaboration was unveiled through an unusually vague press release, confirming that the Monster Hunter Secret Lair Superdrop will go on sale from December 1 at 9am PT through December 22 at 11:59pm PT. As always with Secret Lair drops, availability is limited and sets tend to sell out fast.

This crossover includes four distinct drops—The Hunt, The Hunters, The Monsters, and The Monsters II—each priced at $29.99, or $39.99 for the foil version. The cards are all reprints with Monster Hunter-inspired art and themes, with no new mechanics. Wizards has provided descriptions for each drop but has not yet revealed card images.

The Hunt highlights non-creature spells modeled after iconic monster attacks across the franchise, featuring one spell from each color:

Blind Obedience – Malzeno (Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak)

Snap – Kushala Daora (Monster Hunter 2)

Village Rites – Magnamalo & Tobi-Kadachi (Monster Hunter Rise)

Mizzium Mortars – Yian Garuga (Monster Hunter Generations / MH2)

Tooth and Nail – Azure Rathalos & Seregios (Monster Hunter 4)

The Hunters set focuses on armor and weapons, each representing a different hunter build and classified as human creatures:

Grand Abolisher – Tigrex Armor (Monster Hunter Generations / Freedom 2)

Archaeomancer – Velkhana Armor (Monster Hunter World: Iceborne)

Grim Haruspex – Nargacuga Armor (Monster Hunter P2G/MHFU)

Imperial Recruiter – Rathalos, Brachydios, and Gore Magala Armors (Monster Hunter 4G)

Champion of Lambholt – Astalos Armor (Monster Hunter Generations)

The Monsters and Monsters II drops feature legendary monsters as creature cards, though the press release doesn’t clarify how they are divided between the two sets. The lineup includes:

Lagiacrus (Nezahal, Primal Tide)

Rathalos (Drakuseth, Maw of Flames)

Zinogre (Sarulf, Realm Eater)

Nergigante (Vaevictis Asmadi, the Dire)

Fatalis (Ziatora, the Incinerator)

Gore Magala (Razaketh, the Foulblooded)

Velkhana (Amareth, the Lustrous)

Nargacuga (Wasitora, Nekorus Queen)

Brachydios (Kalamax, the Stormsire)

This year has already been packed with Secret Lair and Universes Beyond collaborations, with recent drops themed after franchises like Sonic, Final Fantasy, Deadpool, SpongeBob, and The Office. The Magic community is also awaiting the Avatar: The Last Airbender set and Marvel’s Spider-Man crossover. And 2025 isn’t slowing down, with announced sets inspired by TMNT, The Hobbit, Marvel, and Star Trek.
