Lego Star Wars R2-D2 Set Returns to Amazon at 20% Discount

One of the best-selling Lego Star Wars sets is proving to be difficult to find in stock this holiday season. The 1,050-piece R2-D2 figure is now sold out at Target and Walmart and is on backorder on the Lego Store. If you're interested in picking up the cool buildable droid figure, Amazon brought back its deal on this exceedingly popular set on December 18. Normally $100, the Star Wars R2-D2 Lego set is on sale for $80 at Amazon. This deal was previously available at Walmart and Target, but unless your local store has units available, both retailers are sold out.

This mid-sized building model of the lovable droid launched in March 2024 as part of the Lego Star Wars 25th Anniversary collection, so it comes with multiple extras, including a Knights of the Old Republic minifigure. The 1,050-piece R2-D2 is a fun and rewarding build that offers solid value for the price, even when it's selling for $100. For $80, though, this impressive R2-D2 figure is one of the best Star Wars Lego bargains available ahead of Christmas.

Once fully assembled, R2-D2 is 4 x 6 x 9 inches. Recommended for builders ages 10 and up, this iteration of R2-D2 is one of Lego's display model and playset hybrids. For the interactive features, R2's head can rotate a full 360 degrees. His legs were designed for fluid movement, so you can slide R2-D2 like you would an action figure. His middle leg and periscope are detachable, and his utility arms can be extended.

Since R2-D2 doubles as a display model, the figure is accompanied by a buildable plaque and stand with an information card detailing the iconic astromech droid. There's also room on the stand for the small R2-D2 Lego figure that's included with this set. As mentioned, this particular version of R2-D2 launched as a member of the Star Wars 25th Anniversary lineup. As an added bonus, you'll get a display stand with the Lego Star Wars 25th Anniversary logo, which just so happens to feature R2-D2, and a Darth Malek minifigure. The main villain in BioWare's classic RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Darth Malek comes with a red lightsaber accessory and can be displayed on the 25th Anniversary stand.

Lego Star Wars C-3PO and Jango Fett

If you're looking for more Lego Star Wars deals, you could pair R2-D2 with his buddy C-3PO. The 1,138-piece C-3PO display model is on sale for $112, down from $140. Sticking with droids, the 1,186-piece Creative Play Droid Builder 4-Pack is available for $100, down from $110. Exclusive to Target, this pack of customizable figures includes R2-D2, Chopper, QT-KT, and R5-J2.

Speaking of exclusives, Amazon is the only retailer carrying the retired Phantom Menace BrickHeadz 5-Pack, and you can snag the 732-piece figure set for only $44, down from $55. Other popular deals include Captain Rex and Jango Fett Helmet replicas for $56 each, down from $70, the Acclamator-Class Assault Ship for $40, down from $50, and the Brick-Built Star Wars Logo for $48, down from $60.

Lego Star Wars Venator-Class Attack Cruiser

If you like Lego's series of mid-size Star Wars ship models, check out the 643-piece Venator-Class Attack Cruiser ahead of its January 1 launch. The largest Lego Star Wars set ever made will make its way to major retailers on January 1. The UCS Death Star, an enormous 9,023-piece model, is available to preorder for $1,000 at Amazon. The Death Star launched in October as a Lego Store exclusive. It's currently on backorder for 60 days, so you'll get your preorder from Amazon sooner. The latest Ultimate Collector Series model is the most expensive Lego set ever.
