GTA Online Is Free Right Now, Lets You Get A Big Discount On New Mansions

GTA Online is free to download and play right now on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S—but only for a very limited time.

Rockstar Games announced that the standalone version of GTA Online is free from now until November 17, with no PS Plus or Game Pass Essential subscription required to access online multiplayer. The limited-time free period is available through each console’s digital store. After November 17, players will need to purchase the game (normally $20) or subscribe to GTA+ to continue playing.

GTA+ costs $8/month and includes access to GTA Online, Red Dead Redemption, and other games, plus monthly bonuses and perks. Meanwhile, GTA V itself was recently added back to PlayStation Plus.

Major GTA Online Update Coming in December

Rockstar has revealed new details about its next major GTA Online update arriving in December. The update will introduce purchasable mansion properties through a new luxury real estate company called Prix Luxury Real Estate.

Before the update launches, players can complete three new missions tied to the real estate expansion. These missions offer:

• 2x GTA$ and RP (4x for GTA+ members)
• GTA$ 2 million discount on mansion properties for players who complete them
• GTA$ 1 million bonus for completing all three missions
• Exclusive cosmetics

Additionally, anyone who logs in before December 7 will receive Black Tier VIP status, granting a free Ubermacht Revolter car.

The free week comes shortly after Rockstar delayed GTA 6 to November 2026. Meanwhile, the ESRB recently posted a rating for Red Dead Redemption on modern platforms, sparking speculation of a remaster.
