New CoD: Black Ops 7 Zombies Map Lets You Battle Zombies in Space

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launched just a week ago and introduced the franchise’s largest round-based Zombies map to date. Despite that recent release, Treyarch has already confirmed the next major Zombies experience, with the Astra Malorum map set to arrive as part of Season 1.

To mark the announcement, Treyarch released a cinematic intro trailer for Astra Malorum, offering a first look at the map’s surreal setting and narrative direction. The trailer sends the Zombies crew into space—or more precisely, a Dark Aether–twisted version of it—as their fight to reclaim their souls continues.

Following the events of Ashes of the Damned, the characters resume their pursuit of powerful Dark Aether creatures under the control of the Warden. Their objective remains the same: free the Shadowsmiths and recover what was taken from them.

As shown in the trailer, the Entity expels the group into a hostile, otherworldly environment where they land on a skull-shaped rock floating in space. The location is populated by Ravagers and other unknown threats, reinforcing the increasingly cosmic direction of Black Ops 7’s Zombies storyline.

The Dark Aether once again functions as a kind of supernatural crossroads, pulling fragments of different places and eras into a single space. Astra Malorum appears to incorporate remnants of an old planetarium or observatory, hinting at both celestial and scientific themes woven into the map’s design.

Season 1 will also introduce two smaller survival-focused Zombies maps: Exit 115 and Zarya Cosmodrome. In addition, Directed Mode is scheduled to arrive later in the season, providing structured guidance for players attempting to complete the Ashes of the Damned story quest.

Beyond Zombies content, Treyarch has also outlined broader Season 1 updates for Black Ops 7, including adjustments to aim assist, weapon balance, and spawn behavior. Season 1 is scheduled to begin in December and will add the game’s first battle pass, Warzone integration, new multiplayer maps, and limited-time events.

With Astra Malorum, Treyarch appears to be pushing Black Ops 7 Zombies further into darker, more abstract territory, expanding the Dark Aether mythos while continuing to evolve the mode’s scale and storytelling.
