Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Will Not Appear at The Game Awards, Report Says

A harmless prediction turned into confusion about whether Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet would make an appearance at The Game Awards next month. However, the Naughty Dog title reportedly won't be seen at the show. Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb confirmed that Intergalactic won't appear at The Game Awards in December. Additionally, Grubb also stated on X that Intergalactic isn't coming out in 2026. These details were discovered after a strange sort of telephone game played out on the internet, starting with a prediction about Intergalactic by Colin Moriarty, the Last Stand Media owner, who later addressed the situation on X over the weekend.

Earlier this year, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier also reported that Intergalactic's earliest release window is 2027. The next game from The Last of Us developer was unveiled at The Game Awards last year. Naughty Dog stated that work began on Intergalactic in 2020, meaning the project has been in development for several years already.

Intergalactic is the first new franchise from Naughty Dog since The Last of Us in 2013. The game will follow bounty hunter Jordan A. Mun, who will look to escape a mysterious planet named Sempiria. The big problem for Mun, though, is that no one who's visited Sempiria in the last 600 years has ever been seen again, creating a sense of mystery and danger around the planet.

On top of Intergalactic, Neil Druckmann has teased that Naughty Dog has another game in development. There's a strong suspicion that the project is The Last of Us: Part III, which would continue the story of the critically acclaimed series. Meanwhile, The Game Awards is set to take place on December 11, where fans will see announcements and reveals from other developers, even if Intergalactic won't be among them.
