CD Projekt Says Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3’s Massive eShop Discounts Were a Mistake—but Sales Will Be Honored

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 briefly went on sale in the U.S. this week with an eye-catching 75% discount, dropping the price from $69.99 to just $17.49. What made the deal even more surprising was the inclusion of the Phantom Liberty expansion, a DLC that normally costs around $30 on its own.

With the base game and DLC bundled together at a price lower than the expansion itself, the offer quickly caught the attention of players. Many jumped on the deal immediately. “I couldn’t believe it,” one fan said, adding that they purchased the game the moment they saw the price. Another buyer admitted they would have skipped it at $20, but the steep discount convinced them to take the plunge.

Some players noted they had previously bought Cyberpunk 2077 on other platforms but never finished it, hoping the Switch 2 version and cross-save support would finally motivate them to complete the experience.

Not long after the sale went live, CD Projekt corrected the pricing error. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition now costs $39.99, reflecting a 42% discount. At the same time, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition dropped to $14.99 with a properly applied 75% discount.

CD Projekt later released a statement on social media explaining that the incorrect discounts shown on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop in the Americas were the result of an error during submission. The company confirmed the issue had been fixed and reassured players that purchases made at the lower price would not be affected.

The decision to honor the mistaken discount was met with praise from fans, particularly those who managed to buy the game before the correction. One player called it a “no-brainer impulse buy” and applauded CD Projekt for not canceling orders, noting that many companies would have blamed a system error instead.
