Escape from Tarkov game director Nikita Buyanov has issued an apology to players following the "rough" launch of the extraction shooter's version 1.0 and its debut on Steam. The game currently holds a 'mixed' user review rating on the platform, with the majority of complaints centering on server instability causing long queues, performance issues, and persistent bugs.
Addressing the community on social media, Buyanov thanked players for their overwhelming interest but acknowledged the rocky start. "The release was rough for sure, sorry for that," he wrote. He assured fans that Battlestate Games is "willing to continue fighting" to resolve these issues, stating that they are adding more servers worldwide to reduce matchmaking times. Buyanov emphasized the studio's commitment to "finally crack the performance problems, outdated stuff and legacy bugs" in the coming months.
In a separate statement on Steam, the developer thanked the community for their support during the transition to 1.0. To apologize for the launch issues, Battlestate promised in-game compensation for all players in the near future, specifically the Bear Classic and USEC Night Patrol sets. Players who have already purchased these items will receive an equivalent in-game reward.
A technical update released on November 17 addressed several immediate concerns. The patch notes highlighted fixes for broken character models in the Hideout, game client freezes when switching to trader screens, and incorrect lighting for Jaeger. Additionally, the update resolved issues causing bots to teleport while using stationary weapons or fly in the air.
