The Battlefield 6 development team quietly rolled out several additional changes alongside today’s California Resistance Season 1 update, introducing adjustments to Escalation, player challenges, and how kill/death statistics are displayed in player profiles.
These last-minute tweaks arrived via a surprise social media update just hours after the larger 1.1.2.0 patch went live. While California Resistance’s headline addition is the new Eastwood map, these smaller changes address lingering community concerns and are already active in-game.
The most significant update targets the Escalation mode. In response to player feedback, Battlefield Studios has increased objective capture times by approximately 20 percent. According to the developers, the change is designed to give squads more breathing room to react, reposition, and coordinate vehicle deployments without sacrificing the mode’s fast-paced nature.
Another backend fix resolves an issue affecting challenges. Some completed challenges were previously failing to properly award their rewards, and this update corrects that behavior. While less visible than gameplay changes, it addresses a persistent frustration for players working through progression systems.
The update also refines how kill/death ratios are tracked in player profiles. Portal-mode kills and deaths will no longer be included in overall K/D statistics. Going forward, only kills against human players will count toward the primary stat, with a separate category for Portal-related stats planned for a future update.
These refinements build on the broader California Resistance update, which delivered new weapons, features, and balance changes. Notably, aim assist settings have been reverted to their August open beta values, and ongoing work continues to reduce weapon bloom and dispersion in an effort to make gunplay feel more consistent.
Battlefield 6 is now approaching its second month since launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Since release, Battlefield Studios has issued multiple major patches, addressed bugs and exploits, adjusted cosmetic concerns, and overhauled the game’s challenge system. More Season 1 content and additional balance updates are expected in the coming weeks.
While small in scope, today’s bonus changes reflect continued responsiveness to player feedback and signal that Battlefield 6’s post-launch support remains active and ongoing.
