Retail giant drops subscription to $49 through December 2, bundling early sale access and streaming perks as holiday shopping wars intensify.

Members gain five-hour early access to three consecutive holiday sales events starting November 13.

Walmart launched a limited-time 50% discount on annual Walmart+ memberships, cutting the price from $98 to $49 through December 2 for new and returning subscribers. The promotion strategically precedes the retailer's three-part Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales sequence, offering members exclusive five-hour advance access windows that historically determine which high-demand items survive to general availability.

The subscription restructure positions Walmart+ as direct competition to Amazon Prime's $139 annual fee, particularly through its updated streaming bundle allowing members to toggle between Paramount+ Essential and Peacock Premium every 90 days. At the promotional rate, the membership costs less than either streaming service individually while adding free shipping, same-day local delivery on orders over $35, and 10-cents-per-gallon fuel discounts across participating stations.

Walmart's first Black Friday event launches November 13 at 7 PM ET for members, five hours before the 12 AM ET public start time. The staggered access model repeats for the second Black Friday wave November 24 and Cyber Monday November 30, historically proving decisive for limited-stock categories including gaming consoles, collectibles, and Pokemon or Magic: The Gathering trading card restocks.

Additional features include free home returns, complimentary Pawp veterinary telehealth consultations, roadside tire repair coverage, and 5% cashback on Expedia travel bookings through Walmart Cash.

Walmart's mobile app integration enables scan-and-go checkout, letting members bypass traditional registers entirely by scanning items during shopping trips and processing payment through their phones. The retailer recently expanded the streaming perk from Paramount+ only to the dual-choice model, responding to competitive pressure from Amazon's Prime Video inclusion and standalone streaming service pricing inflation.

The promotional window closes December 2 at 11:59 PM local time, with eligibility restricted to accounts without active subscriptions. Current members cannot stack the discount onto existing plans, though Walmart periodically offers renewal promotions through targeted email campaigns to subscribers nearing expiration dates.
