If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to jump into Funcom’s survival MMO Dune: Awakening, now may be the best opportunity yet. The game is currently free to play on any server until November 27, giving players a limited-time chance to explore Arrakis before deciding whether to commit.
During the free trial, players can spend up to 10 hours exploring the Hagga Basin, hunting for the Fremen, and getting a feel for the game’s core survival mechanics. Funcom has confirmed that trial players can join any existing server worldwide, and any progress made during the trial will carry over if the full version is purchased.
To further entice newcomers, Funcom is also offering a 25% discount on Dune: Awakening until December 1. Players who decide to buy the game after the trial will retain all unlocked progress, making the free period a risk-free way to test the experience.
Funcom previously outlined an ambitious roadmap for Dune: Awakening, which includes both free updates and paid expansions extending well into 2026. The upcoming Chapter 3 free update will introduce a revamped endgame, while Chapter 4 is expected to follow shortly after, though its full feature set has yet to be detailed.
Funcom has already implemented several fan-requested improvements, including changes to endgame progression, enhanced player activity tracking, improved deep desert loot, and new options for locating or salvaging lost vehicles. Chapter 3 is scheduled to launch between January and March 2026, with Chapter 4 following between April and June.
In addition to free content, two paid DLC expansions are planned for 2026. Raiders of the Broken Lands is expected in the first quarter, while The Water Wars will arrive later in the year, taking players to the polar caps of Arrakis amid a conflict between rival Water Shipper families.
While Dune: Awakening is currently available on PC, Funcom has confirmed that the game will also launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2026.
