Over 200 Rockstar Devs Sign Letter Demanding Fired Staff Be Reinstated

During the final week of October, Rockstar Games fired more than 30 employees across offices in the U.K. and Canada. Rockstar says the dismissals were for "gross misconduct," but the affected staff — who were members of the Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB) — and supporters allege the layoffs were retaliation for union organizing.

Over 200 Rockstar employees have signed letters demanding reinstatement, and protests have taken place outside Rockstar and Take-Two offices, with more planned for London and Paris. The IWGB has denied claims that sensitive info was leaked in union channels and has filed formal legal claims against Rockstar that could presage a lengthy court battle.

The controversy arrives as Rockstar prepares for GTA 6, which the company says will be "the biggest video game debut in history" — a launch now set for November 19, 2026. Insiders estimate Rockstar could face roughly $60 million in losses related to recent delays.
