It’s almost time: Black Friday sales are kicking off this week. If you’re a fan of board games, this is one of the best times of the year to expand your collection. I’m IGN’s board game editor, and after tracking Black Friday board game deals for years, here’s what you can expect.
Black Friday Board Game Deals: General Overview
- Black Friday 2025 falls on November 28, with Cyber Monday on December 1
- Some deals will be weekend-only, while others will last through the holidays
- Expect discounts of up to 60% off on major board games
- Amazon and Target often run Buy 2, Get 1 Free or Buy One, Get One Half Off sales
Buy One, Get One Half Off Deals Available Now
You don’t actually need to wait for Black Friday to start saving. Right now, both Amazon and Target are running promotions that get you half off a board game when you buy another at regular price.
This deal applies to popular titles like Catan, Splendor, and Horrified, as well as a wide range of family and classic board games.
What Board Games Usually Get Discounts?
When it comes to Black Friday board game deals, very little is off the table. If this year follows previous trends, you’ll see discounts ranging from around 20% off all the way up to 65% off select titles.
That includes strategy favorites like Azul and Pandemic, family-friendly hits like UNO and Exploding Kittens, and even horror-themed board games.
Last year, Amazon also ran a Cyber Monday Buy 2, Get 1 Free deal. Because many games were already discounted, it effectively stacked savings on top of savings. Keep an eye out for similar opportunities this year.
Which Retailers Will Have Board Game Sales?
The main retailers to watch are Amazon, Target, and Walmart. Barnes & Noble is also worth checking, especially for family and educational board games.
Amazon’s Black Friday sale is expected to begin around November 20, making it the best place to start deal-hunting early.
